Tai Chi Attack

Tai chi or tai chi chuan involves the alternating of slow and meditative, repetitive movements that are low impact in nature, by very realistic and active movements later; movements that are of a high impact nature. This martial art form requires dedicated martial training that involves various forms and routines pertaining to pushing of hands and sparring. Tai chi, the ancient Chinese martial art of breath and exercise, also known as tai chi chuan trains the student to handle an attack in three basic combat ranges.

These include the long range, medium range and close range combat grounds. The techniques taught by dedicated teachers also involve the use of technique and weapon to cover all that lies in between. The various hand pushes and strikes that are open hand in nature are also accompanied by or supported by common punches and regular kicks. Most of the attack in the case of Tai chi, the ancient Chinese martial art of breath and exercise, is usually to the legs and lower body of the opponent. In fact, authentic tai chi or tai chi chuan does not even permit the student to attack an opponent higher than the hip.

Of course dedicated instructions differ with dedicated and adopted styles. In tai chi, the fingers, palms, fists, wrists, sides of the hands, forearms, shoulders, elbows, knees, hips, back and the feet are commonly used in combat. Most of the strike backs are directed towards the opponent’s throat, eyes, groin, heart and various pre-calculated acupressure points. The students trained in Tai chi, the ancient Chinese martial art of breath and exercise, also known as tai chi chuan, are taught dedicated joint traps, breaks and locks that are referred to as chin na and least defensive techniques. In fact, tai chi teachers expect their wards to display and attack with defensive neutralizing skill.
